Self Improvement and Motivation – Learn to be happy!

Don’t make New Year’s Resolutions! Make commitments!

I don’t create New Year’s resolutions. To me, and this is my personal experience, New Year’s resolutions are meant to be broken. They last a few months… then, you’re back to who you were before you made them.

I tend to make commitments. Not to say commitments are never broken but commitments actually take serious action.  Commitments take goal setting with strategies that are specific. Resolutions are statements proclaiming something ‘new’ for the new year that you think will change your life. The Resolutions that are actually held up are the ones people actually set specific goals to and take action to achieve them – they make a commitment.

Learning to be happy is not a resolution, its a commitment – and during times of difficulty and stress, during times of uncertainty – I have seen individuals fall into a daily bad habit: they have a habit of being unhappy.

Make the commitment to be happy!

Learn to be happy… Self Improvement and Motivation

Take 3 minutes of your life to sit, listen, and read the following YouTube Video of Jim Rohn:

Here is a note I wrote on my FaceBook account.

Self Improvement and Motivation

Attitude and Life

This perfectly sums up attitude and its importance in life.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. Charles Swindoll

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

We are in charge of our attitudes.

Have you ever asked: “Why does so-and-so act ‘that’ way?” after someone acts rude, does something that you gets under your skin, or does something you don’t approve of.

Jim Rohn replies to this question: “Don’t worry about it. Who cares! It doesn’t matter!”

So many times people are so consumed by the actions of someone else that it basically runs (and ruins) their day – it could be a few minutes, hours, or even their whole day – that is – the actions of others can affect your entire life when you shouldn’t even pay attention! People sometimes can’t get past the past! People don’t make YOU feel a certain way: YOU make yourself feel that way.
