New Apple MacBook Pro 2010, Apple iPad Tablet, and Nook handheld eBook Reader dilemma

New Apple MacBook Pro 2010,

Apple iPad Tablet,

Nook handheld eBook Reader dilemma

There’s a new Apple MacBook Pro out today. I’m still undecided on the Apple iPad tablet – and should my Nook handheld eBook reader stay or should it go? That’s the dilemma!

I hate returning things. But I also hate buying something and right after you buy it, a new updated, more improved model comes out. And that’s exactly what happened.  13 days after I bought my Apple MacBook Pro, the Apple MacBook Pro 2010 version comes out – 50% faster, 9-10 hours of battery life; the best MacBook Pro to be developed and, in many people’s opinion, the best computer on the market right now.

Should I blow my top! Should I yell! Should I scream at the top of my lungs? Nope. I’ll grab my receipt, bring my Apple MacBook to the Apple Store, and exchange it for the faster, better, newer model.

I’ll fight to NOT have to pay the 10% restocking fee and use my, “It hurt my stomach so bad when I read the news” sob story.  I’ll be perfectly  honest, it did hurt. I knew the newer models MIGHT be coming out in June, and if that was the case, no problem. But 2 weeks after I made a purchase?

Okay, the Apple Specialist didn’t know – at least that’s what they told me, and Apple just announced it today. Rumors were they were coming out with a new Apple MacBook Pro, but none of the rumors could identify when.

Well, its today. April 13, 2010. I bought mine on March 31, 2010. Crazy ain’t it?

The new Apple MacBook Pro (2010) is “The fastest, most powerful, MacBook Pro ever. Times Three.” Well, every new model is faster and more powerful aren’t they?

From Apple:
-New Core i5 and Core i7 processors: The 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro feature the fastest dual-core processors available, which boost performance up to 50 percent.
-Next-generation NVIDIA graphics: With faster graphics than ever before, MacBook Pro brings high performance to everything from 3D games to photos and videos.
-Up to 10 hours of battery life: The battery in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro lasts up to 10 hours (8 to 9 hours on the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro) on a single charge.
-Precision aluminum unibody enclosure: From one solid piece of aluminum comes a MacBook Pro that’s thin and light, beautifully streamlined, and durable.

So, without delay, I backed up all my pictures, music, address book, etc. I deauthorized a few software packages, made sure I didn’t need to deauthroize others. And stuffed my ‘old’ Apple MacBook Pro into its box and am awaiting word that the shipment has arrived.

Here’s the thing – backing up, deleting software, blah blah blah – its so easy on a mac. File organization is key and that’s what I did – I just moved one directory over and its done. The music and photos took a while – but they are all on my Iomega back up drive. One hour tops. If that.

So here I am, blogging from the kid’s iMac.

I’m still debating on the Apple iPad tablet – and I’m also trying to pry myself away from my Nook handheld eBook reader. If I buy the iPad tablet, do I seel my handheld eBook reader? Can I get $200 for my Nook? It still carries the extended warranty I bought with it.

After going through my 14 day dating period with the Nook portable ereader, I kept it. Knowing good and well that the iPad tablet was ‘coming soon’. And now that its out, and my money is going to other things like my Affiiliate Marketing campaigns, I can’t just, at a drop of a hat, buy products left and right. I did save enough for it, I could just go get it, but I’m trying to be a wise consumer and right now, my ‘bucks’ are going to advertising campaigns.

I can make justifications on why I should keep the Nook. E Ink is superior than any other reading format. It is better for your eyes.  I can make great justifications for buy an iPad tablet – or even two! One thing is for sure, I’m not going to let the new improved Apple MacBook Pro for 2010 out of my grasp – my current one is packed and ready to go.

See you at the Apple Store!
